2026.44 New Doc Beta

Thanks to the work of the Raku Documentation Team and the Raku Infra Team, you can now preview the new Raku Documentation site! Some of the new features:

  • The website is inherently more responsive even mobile centric. The dark theme follows the OS preference. There is a lot of work that remains.
  • Initial steps to make the site multi-lingual, separating the UI language from the content language. The next stage is to integrate other content languages.
  • Two in-browser Raku compilers (Raku++ & Mutsu). This allows for Raku code to be input into a text area movable bar, the code is run in the browser.
  • The About page shows a graphic of all the contributors to the documentation repository.
  • The number of Composite pages is reduced from 1500 to dozens. A composite page is about a method with the same name but across multiple types, eg. say.
  • The type-graphs are simplified so only parents of types are given. Previously sibling and child types were randomly included leading to a meaningless muddle, eg the type graph for Any.
  • The renderer handles all the new functionality of RakuDoc V2, including numbered headings, items, paragraphs, tables, code snippets. Also arbitrary Unicode icons can be used as bullets. Developer notes to indicate which parts of the documentation are deprecated or new.
  • No cookies, but customisation is done using a different type of state.
  • There is a re-ordering of page links into fewer tabs to improve presentation within the mobile form factor.

If you find any issue, please make sure to report them at the Raku Doc Website Repository!

Winding down

A bit of a quiet week, and sadly the Rakudo Core Team was unable to release a 2026.10 release. So we will have to wait until a 2026.11 release!

Please keep staying safe and healthy, and keep up the good work! Even after week 93 of hopefully only 209.

Meanwhile, still: Слава Україні!  Героям слава!
